With an extensive background in electronics, Dave Sinclair brings over 27 years as a successful business owner and President of CEI Alarm. Dave began his electrical career in the United States Navy, where he worked in the Electrical Division at the Naval Submarine Base New London in Connecticut and then did two years on the USS Coral Sea Aircraft Carrier, (CV43). After he got out of the Navy in 1988, Dave went to work for Nevada Fire and System Alert as a technician. He quickly become a lead technician and worked on large job sites including Embassy Suites (now the Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel) and Caesars Palace in South Lake Tahoe, CA.
A couple years later, Nevada Fire and System Alert was purchased by National Guardian, a national security provider. Dave was named Employee of Year in 1990 and was submitted to the National Employee of the Year contest in 1990.
Dave held two additional jobs, along with his work at National Guardian. His days started out bright and early at 5:00 am at Worthen Kenworth, a factory authorized overhaul and maintenance dealer for transmissions. Then, he would head to National Guardian by 8:00 am. Lastly, he would work special events including concerts or sporting events at Lawlor Event Center, the multi-purpose venue on the University of Nevada, Reno campus.
In 1992 National Guardian wanted to expand to sub-contractors and with a $500 house warming gift from his grandmother, Dave earned his contractor’s license and become the first subcontractor in the state of Nevada for National Guardian. In his garage with a few hand tools, his Toyota pick-up truck and a hard-working attitude, CEI Alarm was born. In the first seven years, Dave’s company doubled its revenues every year and quickly became the first National Guardian subcontractor to reach a million dollars in sales. With 32 employees in offices in Reno, Las Vegas and Tucson, AZ, Dave realized it was time to leave subcontracting behind and make the jump to a full-service alarm company.
Although the road was difficult, CEI Alarm has grown into a successful business. Over the past 27 years, CEI Alarm has acquired 15 different alarm companies and has seen tremendous organic growth.
CEI Alarm celebrated 25 years of business on April 1, 2017. Currently, the company is in the process of selling their current building and acquiring a building with four times more space.
Dave says people always ask him when he’s going to retire. Dave says “If you love what you’re doing you’re already retired. So, I have been retired for 27 years”
Shawn Fitzgerald started out in IT Working in the MIS department of the Superior Court of California in 1999. Shawn started with CEI Alarm in 2003 as an installer and has worked his way up to Special Projects Manager. He is currently the in-house Fire Systems Designer and Plans Drawer for CEI Alarm. Shawn holds a NICET II Certification for Fire Alarm Systems.
Matt has over 20 years electronics experience. His first 5 years of experience were in the Marine Corps. For the last 15 years, Matt has focused specifically in security based electronics. As a technician, Matt has been involved with high profile installs, such as Bell Helicopter, Boeing Aerospace, and Conoco Phillips Refineries.
Matt is currently tasked with scheduling and overseeing installations and service, technicians training and management and quality assurance. He is happiest on a service call, trouble shooting a problem nobody else can figure out.
Matt is a third generation Reno native, and cannot think of a better place to raise a family.
Tony Deater has been involved with the security and alarm industry for over 40 years. As a security consultant, Tony’s responsibilities include customer interaction and communication along with managing the installation process of products.
He brings experience in large and small systems including security, fire, access control and CCTV. Previously, he worked in sales and management for numerous companies including Nevada Fire and Systems Alert, ADT, Simplex and Bay Alarm.
Rob Sterett brings more than 30 years of security industry experience to CEI Alarm.
Currently, Rob is a security consultant and is responsible for sales and project management of product installations. He also oversees installations of security alarms, fire alarm devices, CCTV and access control systems.
Rob is a veteran of the United States Navy and is an active member of Toastmasters and Business Network International (BNI) groups.
Matthew Foster has more than 20 years of experience in the security industry. As a Security Consultant for CEI Alarm, Matthew is responsible for sales, customer satisfaction through security analysis and project management of product installations.
In his previous position, Matthew was a sales manager responsible for self-generating leads, closing deals, maintaining customer service after a sale and directing employees in day-to-day sales operations.
Matthew is an active member of Toastmasters and Business Network International (BNI) groups and a volunteer with the Builders Association Charity.
Pat Burgarello had been with CEI Alarm for four years and currently serves as the office manager. She is responsible for organizing and managing office operations including maintaining telephone system, communicating with and assisting clients, file system organization and internal communication
Previously, she was a co-owner for a local alarm company for 17 years until they were acquired by CEI Alarm. Pat was born and raised in Sparks, NV and she enjoys spending time with family and friends.
